Biography
Tom Powers is a Canadian producer, writer and entertainment executive. He is a founding partner of the Toronto-based production company Open Door Co., which he established in 2005 after a decade as a corporate lawyer and subsequent work as in-house counsel for an entertainment production company.
Powers has produced multiple prime-time television series and feature documentaries. His credits include the 2025 documentary You Had to Be There: How the Toronto Godspell Ignited the Comedy Revolution..., on which he served as producer; the series Political Blind Date, which he created; and the documentary Pure Intentions, for which he also wrote the screenplay. He is a Canadian Screen Award nominee.
