Biography

Tomoyuki Maruo is a Japanese production designer and art director. He has worked in Japanese cinema since the 1970s, initially as an assistant art director on films including Preparation for the Festival (1975) and The Man Who Stole the Sun (1979).

Maruo is credited as production designer on Cure (1997), directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, and has collaborated frequently with the director on titles such as Pulse (2001) and Tokyo Sonata (2008). His other credits include Monday (2000), Dororo (2007), Cyborg She (2008), Lupin the 3rd (2014) and Ride or Die (2021). He is also credited under the name Kazuyuki Maruo.
