Biography
Tony Marchant is a British playwright and television dramatist. Born on 11 July 1959 in the East End of London, he began writing for the theatre in the early 1980s before moving into television.
His television credits include the series Holding On (1997), which he created and wrote; Kid in the Corner (1999), which he created and wrote; Never Never (2000); Goodbye Cruel World (1992); and Leaving (2012). He wrote the film The Mark of Cain (2007) and an episode of Lovejoy (1986). He also wrote the film Different for Girls (1996).
Marchant won the Dennis Potter Award at the 1999 BAFTA Television Awards for services to television and has received further BAFTA awards for his work.
