Biography
Troy Takaki is an American film and television editor. He graduated with a degree in cinema from San Francisco State University and began working in Los Angeles in 1990. Early credits include episodes of the series Tales from the Crypt and Ally McBeal.
His feature film work includes Sweet Home Alabama (2002), Hitch (2005), Fool's Gold (2008), The Bounty Hunter (2010) and several Diary of a Wimpy Kid films. He has edited multiple episodes of the Netflix series You (2018–2025) and worked on Desperate Housewives (2004). Takaki has maintained a long collaboration with director Andy Tennant.
Takaki is a member of the American Cinema Editors. He has served on the ACE Internship Program since 2003, helped establish the ACE Diversity Mentorship Program in 2015, and received the 2023 Sundance/Adobe Mentorship For Fiction award. He is an adjunct professor at Columbia College Chicago, where he teaches career planning in post-production. He won an ACE Eddie Award for the docuseries Escaping Twin Flames.
