Biography
Tsao Chien (also credited as Cao Jian, Tso Kin and Cho Gin) was a Taiwanese actor. He appeared in more than 250 films between 1957 and 1996. His screen credits include the role of Magistrate Xu Zheng-qing in A Touch of Zen (1971), General Wu Ning in Dragon Inn (1967), a tea-house waiter in The Boxer from Shantung (1972) and Fong’s father in Island of Fire (1991).
Born in Beijing in 1922, he moved to Taiwan with a theatre troupe in 1949 and began his film career in 1957. He also worked extensively in television from the early 1960s. He died in Taipei in 2002.
