Biography
Tuli Kupferberg, also credited as Naphtali Kupferberg, was an American counterculture poet, author, cartoonist, publisher and musician. Born in New York City on 28 September 1923, he graduated cum laude from Brooklyn College in 1944 and later co-founded the satirical rock band The Fugs with Ed Sanders in 1964. He was active in pacifist-anarchist circles and published works including 1001 Ways to Beat the Draft.
Kupferberg appeared as a US Soldier in Dušan Makavejev's film WR: Mysteries of the Organism (1971). He also featured in other films, including a role as God in the 1972 Canadian experimental feature Voulez-vous coucher avec God?. He died in New York City on 12 July 2010.
