Biography
Valentin de Vargas was an American actor, born Albert Charles Schubert on 27 April 1935 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He served in the United States Army and attended Loyola Marymount University, where he responded to a casting call that led to his film debut as an uncredited student in Blackboard Jungle (1955).
He appeared in numerous films and television series from the mid-1950s to the late 1990s, often in supporting roles. He is known for playing Pancho in Orson Welles's Touch of Evil (1958), a Calvera henchman in The Magnificent Seven (1960), and Luis Francisco Garcia Lopez in Hatari! (1962). Other credits include To Live and Die in L.A. (1985) as Judge Filo Cedillo and guest roles in series such as Mission: Impossible, Airwolf, Kung Fu and Hill Street Blues. He later ran a realty firm in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and was active in the Latino actors' organisation Nosotros. De Vargas died on 10 June 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
