Biography
Věra Chytilová was a Czech film director. She was born on 2 February 1929 in Ostrava, Czechoslovakia, and died on 12 March 2014. She studied directing at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU), graduating in 1962 after training under Otakar Vávra.
Chytilová is known for Daisies (1966), on which she worked as director, screenwriter and story writer. The film was banned in Czechoslovakia after its release. She also directed Fruit of Paradise (1970). She was married to cinematographer Jaroslav Kučera, with whom she collaborated on several projects.
