Biography
Viviane Chantel was a Belgian actress. Born in Brussels in 1925, she appeared in films and on television from the mid-1940s onwards. Her screen credits include early roles in Soldats sans uniforme (1944) and Barak 1 (1945).
She is best known for playing the Belgian lady in René Clément's Purple Noon (1960). Other film appearances include Les atouts de Monsieur Wens (1947), in which she also performed on the soundtrack, and Le cocu magnifique (1947). Later work encompassed television series such as Le renard à l'anneau d'or (1975) and a role in Dilemma (1990). Chantel died in Brussels on 11 September 1992.
