Biography
Vladimir Kremena (Владимир Кремена) was a Soviet and Russian circus clown and film actor. Born on 7 June 1937 near Maykop in the Adyghe Autonomous Oblast, he trained at the State School of Circus and Variety Arts (GUCEI), graduating in 1960, and later at GITIS in 1990. He performed as a solo carpet clown and musical eccentric with Soyuzgos tsirk from the 1970s, developing the persona of a serious, unsmiling clown-philosopher.
Kremena appeared in a number of films, including Gorod masterov (1966) as Ninoche and Dersu Uzala (1975) as Turtygin. He received the title of Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation in 1994 and a Medal for Labour Valour in 1980. He died in Moscow on 5 December 2003.
