Biography
Wale Davies is a British-Nigerian writer, filmmaker and musician. He co-wrote the feature film My Father's Shadow (2025) with his brother, director Akinola Davies Jr. The semi-autobiographical story is set in Lagos during the 1993 presidential election crisis.
The film premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and won the BAFTA for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer in 2026, shared with his brother. Davies previously co-wrote the short film Lizard (2020), which won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. He performs as Tec in the rap duo Show Dem Camp and has worked in music production and artist management.
