Biography
Walter Chiari, born Walter Annicchiarico, was an Italian stage and screen actor. He was born on 8 March 1924 in Verona and died on 20 December 1991 in Milan.
Chiari appeared in numerous films, often in comedy roles, including Bellissima (1951) as Alberto Annovazzi, Bonjour Tristesse (1958) as Pablo, Chimes at Midnight (1965) as Mr. Silence, and The Valachi Papers (1972) as Dominick Petrilli. He was also known for The Little Hut (1957) and Monte Carlo or Bust! (1969).
He began his career in the theatre after the Second World War and performed in musical comedies and prose plays throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Chiari was married to actress and singer Alida Chelli from 1969 to 1981.
