Biography
Walter Woolf King (also credited as Walter Woolf or Walter King) was an American stage, film and television actor and singer. Born in San Francisco in 1899, he began singing professionally at a young age and made his Broadway debut in 1919. He became known as a baritone in operettas and musical comedies before moving into supporting film roles in the 1930s.
King is best remembered for his villainous parts in two Marx Brothers films: as the opera singer Rudolfo Lassparri in A Night at the Opera (1935) and as John Beecher in Go West (1940). He also appeared with Laurel and Hardy in Swiss Miss (1938). His later career included numerous television appearances in series such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Munsters and Batman, as well as work as an actors' agent. He died in Beverly Hills in 1984.
