Biography
William Dewhurst was an English stage actor who appeared in a number of British films in the mid-1930s. Born in Manchester, he had a long career in theatre before transitioning to cinema later in life.
He was cast by Alfred Hitchcock as The Professor in the 1936 thriller Sabotage. Dewhurst went on to play supporting roles in films including Toilers of the Sea (1936), Dark Journey (1937), Bulldog Drummond at Bay (1937) and Victoria the Great (1937). Several of his later credits, such as Sailing Along (1938) and 21 Days Together (1940), were released after his death.
Dewhurst died in London on 26 October 1937.
