Biography
William Ludwig was an American screenwriter. He wrote the screenplay for the 1955 film Oklahoma!, alongside Sonya Levien.
Ludwig graduated from Columbia University in 1932. He joined MGM in 1937 and remained a contract writer there for twenty years. With Levien, he won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Interrupted Melody (1955). Other credits include The Great Caruso (1951) and Hit the Deck (1955).
He died on 7 February 1999.
