Biography
William 'Wee Willie' Davis was an American actor and professional wrestler. Born William Grundy Davis in New York City on 7 December 1906, he began wrestling in 1930 under various ring names, including Wee Willie Davis, and retired from the ring in 1961. He later worked as a wrestling promoter in the Louisville area.
Davis appeared in numerous films from the 1940s to the 1970s, often in supporting or uncredited roles as imposing characters. He is credited as Timmons in The Asphalt Jungle (1950), and his other credits include Reap the Wild Wind (1942), Arabian Nights (1942), Samson and Delilah (1949), Mighty Joe Young (1949), Pursuit to Algiers (1945), Gentleman Jim (1942) and To Catch a Thief (1955). He died in Louisville, Kentucky, on 9 April 1981. He worked as a gym guard at the Jefferson County Jail in Louisville from 1972 to 1975 and contributed to the invention of the Glowmeter, an early head-up display for cars.
