Biography
Yan Tax is a Dutch costume designer who has worked in film, television and theatre since the 1970s. He studied fashion design in Breda.
Tax is known for his film work on Spetters (1980), Daens (1992), The Eighth Day (1996) and Black Book (2006). He has also designed costumes for numerous opera productions, including long-running collaborations with director Harry Kupfer and designer Hans Schavernoch at houses in Berlin, Vienna and Salzburg.
He received a Tony Award nomination for Best Costume Design for the 1993 Broadway musical Cyrano and was nominated for the German Film Prize for his work on Black Book.
