Yash

In K.G.F: Chapter 2 (2022), Yash faces violence with so little apparent concern that we watch him rather than worry for him. Rocky stays composed while Prashanth Neel’s film works hard to make every confrontation feel enormous. That calm is persuasive even when the story is not, and it explains much of his appeal as an action lead. The difficulty is making a confrontation matter when its central figure seems unlikely to be troubled by it.

Yash was already an established Kannada leading man through films such as Googly (2013) and Mr & Mrs Ramachari (2014). K.G.F: Chapter 1 (2018), directed by Prashanth Neel, carried that appeal to a wider Indian audience. Its sequel puts considerable faith in his ability to sustain attention through extravagant action. Our enthusiasm is more qualified: the actor earns our attention sooner than the film realises.

Neel’s screenplay depends heavily on Rocky’s confidence to make its wildness palatable. Yash finds room for sly humour alongside the ferocity, giving us another reason to enjoy his lack of hesitation. We were excited by the fights, then worn down by the relentless sound and the refusal to let an exciting passage finish. Abrupt editing adds to the exhaustion, and the film keeps demanding a response that its leading actor has already earned.

The larger limitation is how little the writing gives him between confrontations, leaving his presence to cover stretches that become repetitive. His apparent invincibility also narrows our interest to how a fight will look, with little reason to fear what it might cost him. We would welcome a part that lets the composure slip, without requiring him to abandon the physical confidence that makes Rocky watchable. Choose K.G.F: Chapter 2 if extravagant action is your pleasure, but allow for the noise.
