Biography
Yasuhiro Kasamatsu is a Japanese composer. Born on 11 January 1960 in Fukui Prefecture, he graduated from the University of Tokyo with a degree in aesthetics and art. He studied oboe under Isamu Iwasaki, composition under Akira Miyoshi and piano under Miyoko Goldberg Yamane.
Kasamatsu has composed music for theatre, dance and film. His screen credits include the score for Hirokazu Kore-eda’s After Life (1998), in which he also appeared as an actor, as well as several television dramas and documentaries. He has provided music for stage productions directed by Yukio Ninagawa and for works by various dance companies.
