Biography
Hung Hung (born Yen Hung-ya, also credited as Yan Hong-ya or 閻鴻亞) is a Taiwanese director, screenwriter, poet and theatre practitioner.
Born in Tainan in 1964, he trained in the theatre department of the National Institute of the Arts. He began working in film as an assistant director on Edward Yang’s Terrorizers (1986) and later co-wrote the screenplays for Yang’s A Brighter Summer Day (1991) and A Confucian Confusion (1994).
Hung Hung has directed several independent features, including The Love of Three Oranges (1999), Human Comedy (2001) and A Garden in the Sky (2002). He is also the founder of Stalker Theater Group and has written poetry, plays and essays.
