Biography
Yoshio Shirasaka was a Japanese screenwriter. Born Toshiyoshi Yasumi on 1 September 1932 in Tokyo, he was the son of screenwriter Toshio Yasumi. He died on 2 January 2015 in Setagaya, Tokyo.
Shirasaka began working as a screenwriter in the late 1950s. He maintained a long collaboration with director Yasuzo Masumura, contributing screenplays to films including Giants and Toys (1958) and Blind Beast (1969). He also wrote for other directors across drama, satire and other genres.
In 1965 Shirasaka was one of the writers on the documentary Tokyo Olympiad, directed by Kon Ichikawa. His credits extend into the 1980s, with additional work in television.
