Biography
Yuen Cheung-yan (also credited as Yuan Hsiang-Jen, Yuan Hsian-Jen, Yuen Chong-Yan and Yuen Cheong-Yan) is a Hong Kong actor, director, stuntman and fight choreographer. He is the son of Yuen Siu-tien and brother of Yuen Woo-ping. During the 1970s and early 1980s he worked with his family on Hong Kong kung fu films including Shaolin Drunkard (1983) and The Miracle Fighters (1983).
His acting credits include Once Upon a Time in China (1991) as Yim's Opponent, Tai Chi Master (1993) as Reverend Ling, Fist of Legend (1994) as Inspector Jie, Kung Fu Hustle (2004) as the Beggar and Kung Fu Jungle (2014) as Lui Ching-yuen. He also worked as a fight choreographer, winning the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Action Choreography for Once Upon a Time in China (1991), and contributed to American films such as Charlie's Angels (2000). He died on 1 January 2026 in Hong Kong.
