Biography
Yuriy Vladimirovich Nazarov is a Soviet and Russian actor. He was born on 5 May 1937 in Novosibirsk and trained at the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute, graduating in 1960. He began his career at the Moscow Lenkom Theatre and joined the Theatre-Studio of the Film Actor in 1963.
Nazarov has appeared in more than 300 films and television productions since his screen debut in 1954. He is known for his roles in Andrei Tarkovsky’s Andrei Rublev (1966), in which he played two princes, and Mirror (1975); for Hot Snow (1972) as Sergeant Ukhanov; and for Little Vera (1988) as Vera’s father. He received a Nika Award nomination for the latter performance.
In 1984 he was named Honoured Artist of the RSFSR and in 2005 People’s Artist of Russia.
