Biography

Yutaka Yamazaki is a Japanese cinematographer, also credited as Yutaka Yamasaki. Born in Tokyo in 1940, he graduated from the Film Department of Nihon University College of Art in 1963. He began working as a cameraman in the mid-1960s on documentaries and television productions.

Yamazaki has collaborated extensively with director Hirokazu Kore-eda, serving as cinematographer on After Life (1998), Distance (2001), Nobody Knows (2004), Hana (2006), Still Walking (2008), I Wish (2011) and Still the Water (2014). His other credits include Shara (2003), Canary (2005) and the documentary Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine (2015). He has also directed and produced films, including Torso (2009).
