Biography
Zhao Dongling (赵冬苓), also credited as Dongling Zhao, is a Chinese screenwriter and writer. Born in Rushan, Shandong, she graduated from Shandong Normal University. After administrative work from 1969, she began writing novels in her spare time and was seconded to the Shandong Film and Television Production Center in 1987.
Her screenwriting career began with the 1992 television drama Earthly Bonds. She is credited as a writer on the film The Eight Hundred (2020) and provided the screenplay for Cow (2009). Zhao has written numerous television series, including Red Sorghum (2014) and Ordinary Greatness (2022), and has received awards such as the Huabiao Award for Outstanding Screenplay and the Golden Rooster Award for Best Screenplay.
