Biography
Zhao Xiaoding is a Chinese cinematographer. Born in Beijing, he studied at the Beijing Film Academy and began his career as a camera operator and second-unit director of photography on Hero (2002).
He has maintained a long collaboration with director Zhang Yimou, serving as director of photography on films including House of Flying Daggers (2004), for which he received an Academy Award nomination, Curse of the Golden Flower (2006), The Flowers of War (2011), Coming Home (2014), Shadow (2018), One Second (2020), Cliff Walkers (2021) and Full River Red (2023). He is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers.
Zhao has also directed features such as Once Upon a Time (2017) and episodes of animated series.
