The films, in release order

The Fast and the Furious 2001Rob Cohen’s car-racing thriller is noisy, thinly plotted and good fun when it lets the driving do the work. Vin Diesel gives it authority, and the practical stunts compensate for a crime story that needs tidying.Fi1m 72 - 2
2 Fast 2 Furious 2003John Singleton’s racing sequel has an engaging double act in Paul Walker and Tyrese Gibson, but a routine crime plot. The races and the humour make it worth considering, provided suspense is not the priority.Fi1m 61 - 3
Fast X 2023Louis Leterrier takes over the tenth *Fast & Furious* film and gives Jason Momoa the keys. He is a joy, the Rome set piece is a proper one, and around them the film splits into three and finishes none of them.Fi1m 58
