Biography
Aaron Russo (1943–2007) was an American film producer and political activist. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he began his career in the music industry, managing the Kinetic Playground nightclub in Chicago and later artists including Bette Midler and The Manhattan Transfer.
He produced feature films including The Rose (1979), Trading Places (1983), Teachers (1984) and Wise Guys (1986). Later in his career he directed and produced political documentaries such as America: Freedom to Fascism (2006).
Russo was active in libertarian politics, running unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination for governor of Nevada in 1998 and for the Libertarian Party presidential nomination in 2004.
