Biography
Adam Pawlikowski (1925–1976) was a Polish non-professional actor, journalist, film critic, musicologist and composer. He was also a noted virtuoso of the ocarina. Born in Warsaw, he studied musicology after the war and worked as a film and music critic between 1948 and 1957 before appearing in films.
He is best known for supporting roles in films of the Polish Film School, including a German soldier at the sewer entrance in Kanał (1957), Andrzej Kossecki in Andrzej Wajda’s Ashes and Diamonds (1958), and Don Pedro Uzeda in The Saragossa Manuscript (1966). He appeared in around fifty Polish feature films and television productions, frequently in character parts as officers or authority figures.
Pawlikowski had served in the Polish Home Army during the Second World War and took part in the Warsaw Uprising. He began his screen career after being consulted by Wajda on Kanał.
