Biography
Addison Powell was an American actor whose career spanned film, television and stage from the 1950s to the 1990s. He was born on 23 February 1921 in Belmont, Massachusetts, and studied at Boston University and the Yale School of Drama. During the Second World War he served as a navigator on B-17 bombers with the US Army Air Force.
Powell appeared in films including The Thomas Crown Affair (1968) as Abe, The Reincarnation of Peter Proud (1975) as Reeves, Three Days of the Condor (1975) as Leonard Atwood, MacArthur (1977) as Admiral Nimitz and The Rosary Murders (1987) as Father Edward Killeen. On television he had a recurring role as Dr Eric Lang in Dark Shadows and guest roles in series such as Law & Order (1990) and Gunsmoke. His stage credits included Broadway appearances and an Obie Award-winning performance in The Iceman Cometh.
