Biography
Adil Hussain is an Indian actor who has worked in independent and mainstream Indian films as well as international cinema. Born on 5 October 1963 in Goalpara, Assam, he trained at the National School of Drama in Delhi and later at Drama Studio London.
He first gained attention for his theatre work, including the 1999 production Othello: A Play in Black and White, which received an Edinburgh Fringe First award. His film roles include Santosh Patel in Life of Pi (2012), Satish Godbole in English Vinglish (2012) and Mustafa Fazil in The Reluctant Fundamentalist (2012). He received a National Film Award Special Mention in 2017 for his performances in Hotel Salvation and Maj Rati Keteki.
Hussain has also appeared in series such as Star Trek: Discovery (2017) and Delhi Crime (2019). He has served as visiting faculty at the National School of Drama and the Royal Conservatory of Performing Arts in The Hague.
