Biography
Aenne Willkomm, also credited as Änne Willkomm, was a German costume designer. She was born on 17 June 1902 in Shanghai, China, and died on 20 June 1979 in Hamburg, Germany.
She trained as a fashion illustrator at the Lette-Verein in Berlin. Producer Erich Pommer brought her to film in 1922. Her first assignment was designing costumes with Heinrich Umlauff for Fritz Lang's Die Nibelungen (1924). She later headed UFA's costume department and worked on Metropolis (1927), Mein Leopold (1924), Schwester Veronika (1926) and Der Katzensteg (1927).
Willkomm retired from film after 1927 or 1928 and married production designer Erich Kettelhut, with whom she had collaborated on the Lang films.
