Biography
A. J. Carothers (1931–2007) was an American screenwriter and playwright. Born in Houston, Texas, he began his professional career as a story editor for the CBS television series Studio One and later worked as an associate producer on Playhouse 90 and General Electric Theater.
He wrote several films for Walt Disney Productions, including Miracle of the White Stallions (1963), Emil and the Detectives (1964), The Happiest Millionaire (1967) and Never a Dull Moment (1968). Later credits include Hero at Large (1980) and the story and screenplay for The Secret of My Success (1987). Carothers created the television series Nanny and the Professor (1970–1971) and Goodnight, Beantown (1983–1984), and wrote the book for the stage musical Busker Alley.
