Biography
Al Hirschfeld (1903–2003) was an American caricaturist whose distinctive linear style influenced several film projects. He served as artistic consultant on the 'Rhapsody in Blue' segment of Fantasia 2000 (1999), with the sequence drawing directly on his graphic approach to depict 1930s New York.
Hirschfeld received an acting credit as himself in a 1997 episode of the television series Touched by an Angel. He had earlier art department credits on films including Fatal Beauty (1987) and uncredited poster work on earlier productions. His drawings also inspired character design in Aladdin (1992).
