Biography
Alan B. McElroy is an American screenwriter. Born in October 1960 in Cleveland, Ohio, he studied psychology at Boston University, Miami University and its European campus in Luxembourg before teaching himself screenwriting from a Writer's Digest article shortly after graduation.
He moved to Los Angeles with his wife Kymm and one script, and was selected for the Columbia Pictures Writing Program. McElroy began his career with the screenplay for Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988). He later wrote Spawn (1997) and created the Wrong Turn franchise with the 2003 film. His television credits include episodes of Star Trek: Discovery (2017–2024) and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022–), where he has also served as co-executive producer. He wrote the screenplay for the 2026 film Beware Boiúna.
