Biography
Alan Roger Davies is an English actor, stand-up comedian and writer. Born on 6 March 1966 in Loughton, Essex, he began performing stand-up comedy after graduating from the University of Kent in 1988. He first gained attention through stage performances and radio work before making his television acting debut.
Davies is best known for playing the title role in the BBC mystery drama series Jonathan Creek (1997–2016). Since 2003 he has been the only permanent panellist on the BBC panel show QI. His other television credits include Bob & Rose (2001), The Brief (2004–2005) and Whites (2010).
