Biography
Alan Reed (born Herbert Theodore Bergman) was an American actor and voice actor. Born in New York City on 20 August 1907, he studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and Columbia University. He began his career in the 1930s on Broadway and in radio, later moving to film and television work under the name Alan Reed (and sometimes credited as Teddy Bergman or Alan Reed Sr.).
Reed is best known for voicing Fred Flintstone in the animated series The Flintstones (1960–1966) and its spin-offs. His film credits include The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946), Viva Zapata! (1952), Lady and the Tramp (1955, as Boris), Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) and The Tarnished Angels (1957). He also appeared in numerous television series such as Batman (1966) and The Addams Family (1964). Reed died in Los Angeles on 14 June 1977.
