Biography
Alan Schoolcraft is a screenwriter, frequently working in collaboration with Brent Simons. He is credited as co-writer of the animated feature Megamind (2010) and story writer on Penguins of Madagascar (2014).
Schoolcraft and Simons met while studying at Emerson College. Schoolcraft previously worked in additional crew roles for the Coen brothers on films including The Big Lebowski (1998) and O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000). The pair wrote Megamind as a spec script originally conceived for live action before its development as an animated film.
Schoolcraft has contributed to further entries in the Megamind franchise, including the short film Megamind: The Button of Doom (2011), the feature Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate (2024) and the series Megamind Rules! (2024).
