Biography
Albert Mannheimer (9 March 1913 – 19 March 1972) was an American screenwriter. Born in New York City, he wrote or contributed to numerous films from the late 1930s onwards, including Dulcy (1940), Whistling in the Dark (1941), Song of the Open Road (1944) and Three Daring Daughters (1948).
Mannheimer received a screenplay credit on the 1950 comedy Born Yesterday, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award; the script also won a Writers Guild of America award for Best Written American Comedy. His other credits include the adaptation for Bloodhounds of Broadway (1952) and episodes of the television series Gidget. He studied at Yale and worked as a theatre critic and playwright early in his career.
