Biography
Aldo Silvani (21 January 1891 – 12 November 1964) was an Italian stage, film and voice actor. Born in Turin, he began his career on stage in 1914 and later worked in radio and as a director of theatre companies before entering film in the mid-1930s.
He appeared in more than 110 films between 1934 and 1964, often in supporting roles. Silvani is known for his performances in Federico Fellini’s La Strada (1954) as Mr Giraffa and Nights of Cabiria (1957) as the wizard, as well as appearances in Beat the Devil (1953), Ben-Hur (1959) and Sodom and Gomorrah (1962). He also worked extensively as a voice actor and in Italian television productions.
