Biography
Aleksandr Levshin (1899–1982) was a Soviet film director and assistant director. Born in the Tambov district of the Russian Empire, he began his career in the 1920s working with Sergei Eisenstein.
He served as assistant director on Strike (1925) and Battleship Potemkin (1925), in which he also appeared as a Petty Officer. He later directed Kitayskaya melnitsa (1928) and Perepolokh (1929).
Levshin continued as an assistant director on numerous Soviet productions into the 1950s and 1960s, including Tanya (1940), The Court of Honor (1949) and Zhestokost (1959).
