Biography

Alessandro Haber is an Italian actor, film director and singer. Born in Bologna in 1947, he spent part of his childhood in Israel before returning to Italy. He made his screen debut in 1967 in Marco Bellocchio’s China Is Near and went on to appear in Bernardo Bertolucci’s The Conformist (1970) as the Drunk Blind Man.

Haber has worked extensively in both film and theatre. Notable film roles include appearances in My Friends Act II (1982), Fantozzi Still Suffers (1983), Dearest Relatives, Poisonous Relations (1992), The Cyclone (1996), The Unknown Woman (2006) and The King’s Musketeers (2018). He has also directed the feature Scacco pazzo (2003) and performed in numerous stage productions, including works by Pasolini, Molière and Chekhov. He has received several awards, among them a David di Donatello and multiple Nastro d’Argento prizes.
