Biography
Alessandro Jacomini is a director of photography, lighting, at Walt Disney Animation Studios. He has worked in the industry for more than 35 years, specialising in lighting for animated features.
Before joining Disney he held positions as a lighting artist and technical director at Rhythm & Hues Studios on visual-effects films including Babe (1995), Mousehunt (1997) and The Nutty Professor (1996). At Disney his credits include lighting supervisor on Frozen (2013), for which he received a Visual Effects Society award, Big Hero 6 (2014) and Tangled (2010), and director of cinematography, lighting on Encanto (2021). He has also contributed to Chicken Little (2005), Bolt (2008), Frozen II (2019), Strange World (2022) and Wish (2023).
Jacomini holds a master’s degree in computer science from Università degli Studi in Milan, Italy. He has been an adjunct associate professor in the John C. Hench Division of Animation + Digital Arts at the USC School of Cinematic Arts and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences since 2017.
