Biography
Alex Nicol (1916–2001) was an American actor and director. Born Alexander Livingston Nicol Jr. in Ossining, New York, he appeared in more than forty feature films, many of them Westerns, as well as numerous television series. He played Dave Waggoman in the 1955 film The Man from Laramie.
Nicol trained at the Feagin School of Dramatic Art. He made his Broadway debut in a walk-on role in Henry IV, Part 1 (1939) and later became a member of the Actors Studio. In 1956 he played Brick in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
His screen career began in 1950 with The Sleeping City. He also directed episodes of series including The Wild Wild West (1965) and Tarzan (1966), and the film The Screaming Skull (1958). Other credits include appearances in The Twilight Zone (1959), Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955) and The Outer Limits (1963).
