Biography
Alex Weston is a composer of film scores and concert works. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in composition and worked early in his career as a music assistant to Philip Glass.
Weston composed the score for The Farewell (2019), directed by Lulu Wang, which was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Original Score. He has collaborated with Wang on the series Expats (2023–2024) and scored other films including Wander Darkly (2020), The Novice (2021) and The Adults (2023). His concert works have been commissioned by groups including the Kennedy Center and the Venice Biennale. In 2024 he released the chamber music album Memory Gaps.
