Biography
Alexander D'Arcy, born Alexandre Sarruf, was an Egyptian actor who appeared in films from the late 1920s until the 1970s. He made his screen debut in The Garden of Allah (1927) and appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's Champagne (1928).
He moved to Hollywood in the 1930s and took supporting roles in several films, including The Awful Truth (1937), in which he played Armand Duvalle, The Prisoner of Zenda (1937) and Stolen Holiday (1937). Later credits include How to Marry a Millionaire (1953).
From the 1960s he worked increasingly in television and horror films, among them Horrors of Spider Island (1960), Batman (1966), The St. Valentine's Day Massacre (1967) and Blood of Dracula's Castle (1969). His final screen appearance was in a 1973 episode of the German series Tatort. He died in West Hollywood, California, in 1996.
