Biography
Alexei Aigui is a Russian composer and violinist. Born on 11 July 1971 in Moscow, he is the son of Chuvash poet Gennadiy Aygi. He studied at the Ippolitov-Ivanov School of Music and founded the Ensemble 4'33" in 1994.
Aigui has composed original music for numerous films and television programmes. His credits include I Am Not Your Negro (2017), The Young Karl Marx (2017), The Truth (2019), Looking for Hortense (2012) and Exterminate All the Brutes (2021). He has frequently collaborated with director Raoul Peck.
His film scores have received several Russian awards, including Nika Awards and Golden Eagle Awards.
