Biography
Alfonso Bedoya (16 April 1904 – 15 December 1957) was a Mexican actor who appeared in both Mexican and American films. He was born in Vícam, Sonora, of Yaqui Indian heritage, and had a nomadic childhood in Mexico before being educated in Houston, Texas. He later worked in various jobs and returned to Mexico City, where he began his acting career in the 1930s.
Bedoya appeared in over 175 Mexican films. He is best known for his role as the bandit leader Gold Hat in John Huston's The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948). His other credits include The Pearl (1947), Border Incident (1949) and the posthumously released The Big Country (1958).
