Biography

Alice Rohrwacher is an Italian film director, screenwriter and editor. She made her feature debut with Corpo Celeste (2011) and gained wider recognition with The Wonders (2014), which won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival.

Her subsequent features include Happy as Lazzaro (2018), awarded the Cannes Best Screenplay prize, and La Chimera (2023), which she also wrote. Her short film Le Pupille (2022) received an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short Film. She studied classics at the University of Turin and screenwriting at the Scuola Holden in Turin. Her sister, the actress Alba Rohrwacher, has appeared in several of her films.
