Biography
Alison O'Donnell is a Scottish actress. She is best known for playing Detective Sergeant, later Detective Inspector, Alison 'Tosh' McIntosh in the BBC crime drama Shetland (2013–), a role she has held since the first series and from which she is set to depart after series 11.
Born in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, she briefly studied international law before pursuing acting. Early in her career she worked mainly in theatre, including a lead role in My Romantic History at the Edinburgh Fringe, which won a Fringe First award in 2011. She has appeared in small television roles such as in Holby City (2012) and Feel the Force (2006), and in films including Pet Sematary (2019) and the English-language version of Moomins on the Riviera (2014). She is married to playwright D.C. Jackson.
